SHIFT: M-F 4pm-1am MDT
· RESPONSIBILITIES:
· · Perform second level support functions for network problems in accordance with the clients problem management process. This involves layer 1-3 problems in a state of the art MPLS based IP backbone, as well as, problems with associated with customer managed services such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, DNS and mail relay.
· · Escalate problems to the internal Network Engineering team and external vendors as required.
· · Identify chronic problems and taken action to identify and resolve the root causes.
· · Perform RCOA (Root Cause Outage Analysis) on network problems.
· · Perform network configuration changes in response to client issues.
· · Perform Core Infrastructure hardware and OS upgrades in accordance with Network Engineering recommendations.
· · Review logs and performance reports for emerging problems and initiate preventive action.
· · Perform changes on managed customer-dedicated routers, switches, and load balancers that support existing customer connectivity.
· · Perform operating system upgrades to customer dedicated routers, switches, and load balancers in accordance with Network Engineering recommendations
· · Act as a technical training resource for the clients IOC.
· · Review network requirements and engineering concerns associated with customer requests such as, equipment configuration and operational impact.
· · Provide a technical network interface with customers.
· · Participate in network disaster recovery tests for the clients production network.
· · Provide on-call support functions.
· · Maintain technical expertise and required industry certifications and stay current with new and emerging networking technologies.
· SKILLS:
· · College Degree preferred but will consider applicants with equivalent work-related experience with a minimum educational requirement of a H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent.
· · Minimum five years industry experience in an implementation and support role in a large enterprise or service provider environment with the installation and support of a large IP network.
· · Extensive working knowledge of routing protocols including BGP4, OSPF, RIP, EIGRP and knowledge of the Internet concepts and routing architectures is required.
· · Extensive working knowledge of spanning tree and layer two switching concepts is required.
· · Working knowledge of load balancing technologies, firewalls, IDS, DNS is required
· · Extensive working knowledge of Cisco IOS is required.
· · Working knowledge of Juniper Routers and JUNOS software is required.
· · CCNA/CCNP or JNCIA/JNCIS certification is required
· · CCIE written examination or JNCIP certification is required.
· · Extensive knowledge of data communication concepts and technologies is required.
· · Ability to effectively use diagnostic tools is required.
· · B.S. degree Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent skills developed through industry experience is required.
· · Ability to learn and respond to demands in a fast-paced, highly technical environment and to manage multiple projects and responsibilities is required.
· · Ability to effectively work in a team environment, as well as, independently is required.
· · Good organizational, time management and service delivery skills are required.
· · Effective written and oral communication skills are required.
· · Strong computer skills and proficiency in productivity tools are required.
